Fifth Sorrowful Mystery: The Crucifixion

Matthew 27:33-54; Luke 23:33-43

The Crucifixion – Fastened to the cross by nails, Jesus, after three hours of agony, dies in the presence of His mother.

Resolution – I desire the grace of final perseverance. I accept the death God has prepared for me with all the pains that may accompany it.

Thanks – Thank you, Jesus, for purchasing for us the reward of eternal life.

? What do you think of when you review this mystery?

… the sacrifice Jesus made for us by His suffering and death   … the end of suffering   … Good Friday   … would I have the strength Jesus showed   … may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace   …Jesus’ obedience to and trust in God in all circumstances.

After reviewing the Resolution and Thanks statements and the meditations, can you think of additional ones?

About Me

Hi, my name is Lisa and I'm passionate about helping others learn to love the rosary.

I prayed the Rosary for years, as if a child. I only grasped what it was meant to do when I came across an old booklet, probably from the 1950’s, that connected the bible passages to my life with resolutions.

I'd love to get a thorough description of what the Rosary really is to each of you.
