First Sorrowful Mystery: The Agony in the Garden

Matthew 26:36-44; Matthew 3:16-17

The Agony in the Garden – Jesus prays in the Garden of Olives. The thought of His coming sufferings and of our sins causes him to sweat blood.

Resolution – I desire true repentance for my sins. I desire a deeper understanding of these mysteries that I may better imitate Christ. My Jesus, I will pray with all my heart.

Thanks – Thank you, God, for the trials that bring me to my knees in prayer as they bring me closer to you.

? What do you think of when you review this mystery?

… Jesus praying while the apostles slept – thinking about his coming sufferings and our sins   … have I prayed that this cup be passed, that I not be tested?   …think about obedience to God   … as it was in the beginning   … pray “Thy will be done.”

About Me

Hi, my name is Lisa and I'm passionate about helping others learn to love the rosary.

I prayed the Rosary for years, as if a child. I only grasped what it was meant to do when I came across an old booklet, probably from the 1950’s, that connected the bible passages to my life with resolutions.

I'd love to get a thorough description of what the Rosary really is to each of you.
